About Tri-State East Tennessee

Tri-State East Tennessee Physical Therapy, a privately-owned outpatient PT company, was founded in 2006 by current owners and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduates John Staley, PT, CSCS and Jason Stooksbury, DPT. After humble beginnings opening private outpatient therapy centers in the Tri-State area, the Knoxville, TN-based company began additional partnerships with local East Tennessee provider groups in 2012 to comprise and manage the clinical PT staff in several regional facilities. We provide a wide range of PT services specializing in non-operative and post-operative orthopedic care, balance and gait abnormalities, and various other musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. We take a common-sense approach to delivering high-quality physical therapy services to patients from all walks of life. We hope you’ll choose us for all your outpatient PT needs!

President

Jason Stooksbury, DPT: Jason grew up in Powell, TN before graduating with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2004. His interest in PT began after an ankle injury in high school and the role that rehab played in allowing his expedited return to the playing field. After beginning his career in the outpatient orthopedic setting, he quickly moved into private practice in 2006 with his long-time friend and mentor, where he continued to serve in clinical director and regional manager capacities. As a co-owner of Tri-State East Tennessee Physical Therapy, Jason now functions in the CEO role, where he manages the staff and daily operations of several regional outpatient clinics. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, vacationing at the beach, UT athletics and spending time with his friends and family. Jason resides in the Knoxville area with his wife, Gera, and their family of 6 children.

John spent his spare time with family and friends on Norris Lake, playing golf, attending UT athletics, and traveling across the country. John’s career quickly moved into management and company ownership, as he was a tireless worker with an entrepreneurial spirit who built several successful physical therapy practices throughout the tri-state region. His gift for leadership and love for people allowed him to mentor and greatly impact the lives of many individuals in the field of physical therapy. In 2024, John was called to his heavenly home by his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful husband, proud father, and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all.
